Dubbed the VT -12 Vibration Platform, one of the newest machines to help people lose those pesky pounds was appropriated from the Russian Cosmonauts training regime, and it is available at Abundant Health Natural Food Store. According to Gail Hewitt, who runs Abundant Health, the cosmonauts cre- ated the technology fifty years ago, and the whole body vibration enabled them to stay in space longer than their American counterparts. "The cosmonauts used it in space, and they were able to stay up there for 420 days straight. The American astronauts could only stay up there for 120," she said. The vibration technology is intended to be a full-body solution for healthy living, claiming to burn fat, increase bone mass density and muscle strength, tone and firm, improve flexibility, enhance bal- ance, massage muscles, stimulate circula- tory and lymphatic systems, and decrease cellulite. Due to its stationary exercise methods, it does all this with little to no stress on joints. The system works by trying to keep the user off-balance. The body will continu- ously make minor adjustments to muscle position and tension to keep the head straight, meaning the user's body is con- stantly shifting and moving, flexing mus- cles and opening up circulatory vessels. Hewitt, and her husband Jim, found out about the product during a trip they took. Jim had suffered a torn ligament and was going to require surgery, and it limited what they could do with their vacation time. They noticed the machine during a trade -show, and it seemed to have com- pletely healed Jim's ambulatory prob- lems. "He limped in, then walked out, and he said that he felt great," Gail said. "It made him able to walk again. The next day we went on a 9 kilometer hike." Produced by T Zone Health, the ma- chines can be a bit pricey at $1669, but that hasn't stopped the Hewitts, who have been offering the product for five weeks now, to sell as many machines in that time. "They're really all purpose machines," Gail explained. "They do physio[therapyl for athletes, help with rehabilitation after injuries, and help with muscle and joint problems. And standing on it for 10 min- utes is the equivalent of a one hour work- out at a gym." While the purchase price -tag may be a barrier, Abundant Health offers a mem- bership program, in which users can go on the machine as often as they like, in ten minute increments, for $60 a month. "I really enjoy helping people," Gail explained. "And to see the change that this makes in people's lives, its immedi- ate, and its usually a big change for them, Goderich Signal -Star, Wednesday, August 5, 2009 - Page Al 3 Many of you took advantage of our last threesome sale so, WE'RE DOING IT AGAIN "THE THIRD" FOR FREE SALE!
