Car show
a cruising
success
On Saturday, July 18 the Circle City Cruiz-
ers (CCC) held their annual Memories Then
and Now Car Show in Courthouse Park in
Goderich, and secretary Norm McGillivary
said this was one car show "where there is no
shortage of things to see and do."
The day started with a light but short
sprinkle of rain early in the morning and as
the day progressed the weather turned into a
beautiful sunny day. The threat of rain may
have stopped some from attending but the
CCC still had 206 registered participants in
addition to 35 club member cars.
The event featured automotive product
vendors, various organizations, raffle cars
and the OPP had their newest Dodge Char-
ger cruiser on display. The cruiser was a big
hit with the spectators and many had their
photos taken while sitting in the back seat.
Across the street surrounding the court-
house, McGillivary said many of the down-
town stores generously donated door prizes
for the event.
"A perfect illustration of the show theme
Then and Now was the arrival from Orillia of
Jeff and Michelle Gilbert's similar coloured
Chevrolet Camaros. Michelle's is a 1969 SS
and Jeff's is a 2010 SS/RS," McGillivary
said. "The variety and the quality of the cars
at this show was outstanding."
The spectator's award choice was Ken
McGee's classic white 1959 Cadillac con-
vertible.
The participant's award selection went to
Wayne McMichael's two-tone brown 1932
Chrysler sedan.
"This car was once owned by Al Capone,
the famous Chicago gangster, and appeared
in the movie The Untouchables," McGilli-
vary added.
The 50/50 draw was won by Dave Dun-
smore of Vanastra who very generously do-
nated $100 of the $376 each way to the Big
Brothers and Big Sisters Organization of
Huron County.
The CCC have an annual Christmas party
at which all proceeds from their cruise sea-
son, show on The Square and 50/50 draw
tickets are donated to Huron County chari-
ties or projects.
Watch for the CCC, as they are a very
active club and can show up at car shows
or cruises across Southern Ontario and be-
yond.
