Ghost Walks back in Goderich
signal -star staff
Revel in the spookier side of
Goderich by taking in one of the
spine -tingling walks offered by
ghoul -guru Jordan Henry this
summer.
Somewhere along the dirt path
. of the Maitland Trail, the ghost
of Tiger Dunlop still haunts. He
traces the path from his final rest-
ing place to his beloved Town of
Goderich under the shadow of a
sun laid to rest. Or, so the legend
goes.
Henry has compiled a 45 -min-
ute tour of select locations
throughout the town's main core
that are reputed to have lingering
guests on occasion. Now, he's
hosting Goderich Ghost Walks
throughout July and August to
pass along the chilling tales.
"It's a combination of urban
legends that I've heard through
the years and historical research
I've done," said Henry. He first
got involved in sharing the
ghosts of Goderich's past dur-
ing the first-ever Haunted Huron
event in October of 2008. Henry
led three groups with more than
200 people on a popular ghost
walk series during the event, and
now he's brought some of the fun
back for the summer.
The walks touch on stories that

date back to the founding of the
Huron Tract, and include stops
at or near the historic Gaol, the
Gairbraid Estate, Maitland Trail,
and begin and end at The Livery,
where three ghosts are said to
still haunt.
Walks typically last 45 min-
utes to an hour, and are moder-
ately paced to accommodate par-
ticipants of any age. Henry leads
walks on Monday and Thurs-
day evenings .based on interest.
A quick call to register is all it
takes to join Henry, and he added
that individual dates and times
could be determined for special
interests.
Drop -ins are always welcome
as well. Henry sets up a sand-
wich -board display sign at The
Livery on evenings when he
hosts a walk.
