Summerfest a huge success signal -star staff Local bands and the Scottish Flair Fes- tival carne together to make the Goderich Kinsmen's Sumtnerfest a huge success: Elli. Cohen, Chairman of the Goderich Kinsmen's Summerfest, said that the week- end went extremely well. "We had maximum capacity on Friday night; 1300 people from 11 p.m. on, and the colder wet weather didn't detract much on Saturday night, with over 1,000 people from 11 p.m.. on," Cohen said. The annual event benefitted this year from The Scottish Flair ceremony, a presentation of local celtic pipe bands being held right beside the Summerfest tent on The Square in Goderich. "Scottish flair brought a pretty broad crowd that enjoyed themselves," Cohen said. "We're going to work with them for sure next year. We were really pleased with the family event, and supporting all the dif- ferent pipe bands around Huron County." The event, which ran from Thursday night to Saturday night, featured fun for the whole family, with children's rides and games, a poker rally held by the Canadian Motor- cycle Cruisers, and Goodfellas DJ service filling in the time between performances by The Full Nelsons on Friday night, and Tasty Jams on Saturday night. "The weekend did very well, we sold out of all of our coolers, and we sold a lot of beer," Cohen explained. Cohen explained that the event was a success on all fronts. It was a safe weekend with no significant injuries, and no fights, and they had more than enough volunteers. to get everything done.
