Lake Huron, Barry has drawn his inspiration, in large part from his surroundings. Thus you will see the sIoreline with herring gulls, the local harbour and leav- ings of Yesterday's Storm. A portrait of a First Nations dancer from his "Pow Wow" series shows that this artist is versatile in his work. Rarely has this viewer seen such mastery in the art of painting with pastels, as scenery and portraits are equally well -handled. Paintings in oils are also included. His bold, confident style, and adventurous use of colour have earned him several awards in open juried Bend to The Square competitions. He is represented in many cor- porate and private collections. Richman received his early training from his gifted mother, and learned more fotnally from the special arts program at Loddon's H.B.Beal Secondary School. Further training continued at the Doon School of Fine Arts and with a Latham Foundation scholarship he was able to attend the University of Fine Arts in Mexico City. Barrys art may be seen between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., any day but Sunday at the Goderich Co-op Gallery. A working artist -member is always on duty.
