The Goderich Lions once again fed multi-
tudes of hungry Harbour Park visitors Sunday
. at their 37th Annual Beef Barbecue.
Lion Mike Alcock, pitchfork -in -hand, said
about 630 pounds of beef were slow -cooked
to perfection over five bags of charcoal begin-
ning.Sunday morning.
About 40 volunteers, all Lion:i, rved beef,
buns, potatoes, and drinks to tht; hundreds of
people wha made the trek. •
Lions president Bill Vanstone said they
were fortunate to have a gap in the rain for the
duration of the barbecue, and was thankful the
public was not discouraged by the earlier bad
weather.
"We really appreciate all the people coming
out," he said. "I've been in the club 10 years
and we've only had one rained out."
The fall -back location for the supper was
the Memorial Aruna; however the skies
cleared up enough to host the event in Lions'
Harbour Park once again. '
Tickets, he said, sold well in advance as in
other years however the majority of people
just bought theirs as they came in.
"A lot of people are from out of town, look-
ing for something to do and something to eat,"
he said.
While overall numbers of diners were down
for the day, Vanstone said they had more than
600 people come out to the dinner.
Funds from the beef barbecue go straight
back to the community, as the Lions Club
continues to be one of Goderich's most sup-
portive service clubs.
