"It's a really unique and neat festival, even if you're not in the market for anything, you find yourself wander- ing around, chatting, and often come out with a one -of -a -kind piece of art." The festival kicks off this year July 3 in Courthouse Park on The Square from noon to 8 p.m. and continues July 4 and 5. The Shriner's will once again host their Fish Fry Friday from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. while musical guests the Goderich Lake - town Band will set the tone from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday the festival is open from 1O a.m. to 6 p.m., with a special performance at the gazebo bandstand by David Walker at 2 p.m. Sunday, the festival gets underway at noon and wraps up at 4 p.m. Each year, the Festival of Arts and • HURON COUNTY OPEN HOUSE comes to Benmiller Inn & Spa FREE Comman# Event - Sundayfrs5' 12 1Z•f.SDm Free American Wind Symphony Quartet Concert Wilma Free BBQ provided by Metzger's Meats & West Harbour Concert Afternoon filled with live entertainment featuring Magic Mark, local vendors, demonstrations and Free samples! kin to to celebrate & umple Huron Counhy! Its loyal following each year in- cludes both shoppers and vendors, which help to make the Goderich festival one of the most popular in the area. "We have a good core of vendors who keep coming back," Brown said, "And even (last week) while getting my hair cut, I had a lady telling me that she never misses it. I think it's something a lot of people look forward to as a nice stroll through the park." The Festival has been a summertime mainstay for nearly a quarter of a cen- tury. It's organized and executed by the Women's Shelter, Second Stage Housing and Counseling Services of Huron as an annual fundraising initiative. All proceeds garnered from vendor fees go directly back to the organization to help fund op- erations. "So when you shop for that perfect wed- ding, birthday or unique gift that won't have a double, you can feel good about it even more knowing that you're helping support the community," Brown added. Along with artist and crafts vendors, a number of local not-for-profit agencies also set up booths to kick-off their own .fundraising initiatives.
