DRIVER FLEES FROM POLICE AFTER HANDING OVER IDENTIFICATION On June 20, 2009 at approximately 2 a.m., Huron OPP officers set up a RIDE check- point on Southampton Street in Dungannon. After speaking to the driver of a slow-mov- ing vehicle an officer detected the odour of an alcoholic beverage. The officer requested identification from the driver and he com- plied. The officer then issued a demand to the driver to provide a roadside sample of his breath. The driver was told to pull to the curb to remove his vehicle from the lane of traffic. At this point the driver left the scene with the officer holding his licence, ownership and in- surance card. The officers followed the fleeing vehicle and located it in a private driveway. The driver had exited the vehicle and fled on foot. He could not be located. As a result of the investigation, a 35 -year- old Ashfield Colborne Wawanosh man is facing one count of Fail to Stop for Police. THREE DRIVERS LOSE LICENCE FOR THREE DAYS OVER THE WEEKEND Over the weekend, three drivers lost their driving privileges after blowing "warns" on the roadside Alcotest. One driver was stopped after failing to stop for a stop sign, a second driver was stopped because of speeding and the third driver was stopped for a routine sobriety check. That combination of alcohol and the dan- gerous driving actions had the potential for disaster. Drivers are being reminded that the for- mer 12 hour suspension is now gone. Driv- ers who have their licences suspended for blowing a "warn" on a roadside Alcotest now have to obtain a new licence at MTO following the three day suspension. There is a reinstatement fee that goes along with that process. ---TOWNSHIP of---- ►s"r+c n- r05. r -%1016WINOSH TOWNSHIP OF ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH TAXES DUE REMINDRER The second instalment of the 2009 tax levy is due On June 30, -2009.
