Born in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England on July 12, 1927. Predeceased by parents Beatrice Maude and Harry Hall. Loving father of Robert (Joan) Hall of Sarnia, Pauline Hall (David Woodfull) of Lakeshore id Shirley (Tim)McCarthy of Comox, BC. Proud grandfather of Christopher, Laura, Jennifer, Michael, Damien, Steven, Siobhan, Basil, Caitlin, Brendan and great grandchildren Jacob, Olivia, Alexander, Andrew and Ryan. Also survived by one brother Harry Hall of England. Dear uncle of Michael and Jean of England, Bobby, Kim, David and Molly. At the age of 18, Basil joined the Royal Navy and had many voyages in the South Pacific until the end of WWII. Upon his return to England, he graduated from the University of Liverpool in Social Administration. He was chairman of the Girlington Youth Centre and the Youth Hostel Association of South Wales. Over several years he also held many positions with the Countryside Holiday Association, UK. He worked in Children's Services prior to coming to Canada with the Sarnia Children's Aid Society in 1957. In 1963, he made Goderich his home and worked at the Goderich Psychiatric Hospital (later Bluewater Centre), as the Director of Social Workers, until 1982. During this time he served as President of Southwestern Ontario Social Workers in Psychiatric Settings. He also served on numerous commitees; Psychiatric Research, Medical Records, Education, Public Relations, and also was Chair of the Professional Advisory Committee and the Huron Social Services Coordinating Committee. Basil retired at the age of 55, during his retirement years he was actively involved with the local Naval Association and Legion Br. 109, particulary the Sick & Welfare Committee. Basil was a caring and modest Yorkshireman, with strong values. He was an avid reader, hiker and gardener with a sincere appreciation for the important things in life. As once said "A man's riches are measured by the fewness of his wants."
