Seahawks stage strong comeback in Kincardine
The Goderich Gardiners Seahawks peewee base-
ball club mustered up a strong tournament comeback
in Kincardine this weekend, but fell short in the final
with a narrow 14-16 Toss to Hanover June 14.
The Seahawks were' down 12-3 early on in the
game, however, the final three innings saw the Sea -
hawks pull together as a team and collectively hit the
ball around the park.
The boys in purple continued to rally back to make
it a 16-11 affair as they headed into the bottom of the
seventh inning.
The momentum was swinging in Goderich's
favour, but the Seahawks just ran out of in-
nings.after a massive comeback effort.
With only one regular season game heading
into the tournament, the Seahawks were able
to shake off the rust with no problems, with
strong pitching from Tylers Moss and Berry
backed by a solid Seahawk defence.
Moss was first out of the bullpen. Friday
against Kicardine, in an evenly -played game.
Tight defensiivc plays by Owen Edward, James
Tigert, John Doherty, and Connor Cox helped
keep the innings' reasonable.
A late solo home run by Jonathan Ridsdale
helped put the game away for Goderich.
Saturday morning had the Seuhawks fac-
ing Whithy with I3erry taking to the mound. Berry
pitched admirably but was in tough against a strong
Whithy club.
Jesse Gaudette, Jarred Bakker, and Ryan Hill
worked hard patrolling the outfield during this game.
Mykal Hodges played an excellent game behind the
plate for Goderich.
The afternoon game had the Seahawks matched
up against another strong club from Orillia. Robbie
Eranken and Lucas Hoggarth provided some often -
sive spark in this game.
