Lions Walk for Dog Guides_rasies more than $1,000
Good morning everyone. Glad
to see you all back for another in-
stalment of the life and times of
Dungannon and area residents.
We have lots of tea in the cup-
board, but I'm dipping into the
coffee this morning, and it's the
high-test stuff too. Look out world
I'm revved up.
My sister Brenda Davidson,
formerly of Goderich and now
in the Dundas area, has spent the
week around and about visiting
with friends, and all her sisters.
We managed a trip to Fergus and a
wonderful visit with ourfather for
his 90th birthday. We missed sis-
ter Ruth as she had other commit-
ments, but Crystal, Adele, Brenda
and myself sure had a fun day.
Wayne and I took Myrah to the
Clinton parade on Saturday and
what a great little parade it wad
too. We then visited the minia-
ture horses and played a couple
of games. She got to go back on
Sunday with her parents for all
the rides and lots more fun.
Tuesday is our Women's Insti-
tute meeting. Hostess will be Jean
Errington and if weather permits,
we will have .an enjoyable and
informative stroll around Jean's
flower garden. Also on, the agenda
will be a plant exchange. I have
my miniature Heuchera (coral
bell) already potted up. We al-
ways have a good time while do-
ing great community service and
learning something new at every
meeting.
Did you know that every mem-
ber of the Women's Institute of
Ontario is also automatically a
member of the Associated Coun-
try Women of the World? I think
the ACWW could be just as ac-
curately called the Associated
"Caring" Women of the World
as we all know, fighting against
Debbie Bauer
poverty is not just a rural issue. It
is however the rural women who
are among the poorest of the poor
in third -world countries, and iso-
lation is an additional challenge
for women often raising children
on their own. If you would like to
know more about either our next
Institute meeting or the ACWW,
give me a call or check out their
web sites.
The Lion's 2nd annual Walk for
Dog Guides was held May 31st.
With one business still to report
in, the over 20 walkers managed
to • raise $1,222.
MP 'Ben Lobb

Beginning Friday June 5th the
Dungannon Lion's will be hold-

main street. From 11:30 a.m. to 1

get hot dogs, hamburgers, fried
onions, french fries and drinks.
Fridays only folks - don't forget.
Money raised will go toward com-
munity projects. The Lion's have
already done a lot to spruce up
our village with signs and flags.
Thank you Lion's - great job.
There is a community pot luck
to be held at the Dungannon Se-
nior's Hall on June 10 at 6 p.m.
followed by Heather Durnin and

tertainment.
The Dungannon Tractor Pull is
coming up on June 20 at the Ag-
ricultural Fair Grounds, mark that
on your calendars. It is always a
great event. Good luck to all our
