The God- erich Co-op Gallery's guest artist for June, Colleen Jacob, enjoys stretching the bound- aries when creating her pieces. Colleen's skills have been developed and honed over a number of years though train- ing and employment in theatre, animation [Canadian Film Board], museum work, and teaching though North America and Great Britain. Early years were spent growing up in Al- berta, and well as areas of British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Montana, and the Northwest Territories. She spent her teen years as a part of a large multi- racial , mul- ticultural family with a strong aboriginal in- fluence. This has resulted in an affinity and a respect for the traditions and belief systems of this land's original people. One area of ongoing fascination and dis- covery • is through the experimentation and exploration of papermaking using unusual sources of raw materials and adopting exist- ing techniques. This results in the creation of many unique hand embossed papers, and the opportunity to share with others this ever evolving and exciting field. Cuir Bouilli, or boiled leather technique, will also be dis- played in. Colleen's work at the Co-op Gallery. Colleen now lives and works among the trees, rocks and wildlife of Georgian Bay and the Bruce Penninsula. Along with Colleen's work, during the month of June you may also view the art of the Senior CHSS art students at the God- erich Co-op Gallery in a show called "Chill Your Mind."
