June 6 marked the 65th anniversary of D -Day and Canadians
landing at Normandy Beach and provided a great backdrop
for the rededication of Bluewater Veteran's Highway. Clockwise

Legion Gordon Moore addresses the audience; dignitaries,
including MPP Carol Mitchell, walk in the ceremonial parade
and an armored scout vehicle accompanies the parade.

direction for healthcare

County's interests if someone

perspective.
Adams said he asked if a de-
cision had already been made
about the direction of health-
care in the future and the LHIN
was just going through the mo-
tions.
"I wa' assured that's not the
case," he said.
Coun. Joe Seili (Huron East)
said he 'is concerned that as
Seaforth Hospital's ER con-
tinues to be closed overnight,
statistics on how many people
are diverted to another hospi-
tal who would have normally
chosen Seaforth are not being
collected.
"It's helping other emergen-
cy departments stay open," he
said.
Seili added _.he's concerned
that the LHIN meetings are be -
ing held "in camera."
"I've felt all along that there's
a plan there already. The in
camera sessions are just muz-
zling the small communities,"
he said.
Coun. Dorothy Kelly (Mor-
ris Turnberry) asked that Hu-
ron County Council send a
letter to the South West LHIN
stating its position on keep-
ing emergency departments at
small hospitals open.
Coun. Deb Shewfelt (God-
erich) said he's getting a lot of
email from Fort Erie where a
decision was made to close the
hospital and open a super hos-
pital in St. Catharines.
"The mayor of Fort Erie has
contacted me as well and we
should send a letter supporting
them as well. We're going to be
facing the same thing as he is,"
added Seili.
