Oldtimers' tourney hits Ag Park Saturday
For the Goderich Oldtim-
ers, 2009 marks the 29th
year that the soccer club will
be hosting a local Oldtimer
• soccer tournament. On June
6, eight teams will battle it
out on local soccer pitches
starting at 9 a.m., with par-
ticipating teams from Goder-
ich, Exeter, Hanover, Owen
Sound, Anchor Bay Michi-
gan, Windsor Caboto, Wind-
sor Ciociaro, and Toronto.
Each team will play two 40
minute games, split between
Agricultural Park field and
GDCI field, to determine
who will play in the champi-
onships. Similar to last year,
round robin games tied after
regulation will be settled by
a shoot-out just to add a little
excitement. A portion of the
tournament proceeds will be
donated to the Goderich Re-
lay for Life, with the cheque
presentation 'to be held at
11:30 a.m. at Ag Park Field.

your soccer spirit.
New Monday mixed league begins at Sunset
Goderich Sunset Golf Club held its
annual Men's Member Fred Hull's tour-
nament Sunday morning, sponsored by
Rona.
First place: Brian Reeve, Bill Peters,
Paul Dougherty, Bob. Durnin - 15
Second place: Dave Sykes, Richard
Worsell, Leon Gaynor, Bill Martin - 13
Third place: Bill Brooks, Bull Yung-
blut, Heinz Satori, Joe Welsh - 12

Last week the North Huron Tem-
pest team played North Middlesex
and won the game 9-0. Goal keep-
ers were Norena Goud and Bryanna

A new mixed league has started at
Sunset and is currently looking for
members.
This new league plays Monday morn-
ings at 9:30 a.m.; holiday Mondays at
2:00 p.m. Open to members and green
fee players, teams are made up by a
random draw with a fun format that
combines both individual and team
play. Winners for week one were Bill
Martin, Ray Stanfield and Vivien Stan-
field. Bill Mcisaac, Nigel Dezell and
Ed Rowe won week two. This fledg-
ling group is looking for more golfers
to join them.
U10 GODERICH MINOR SOCCER

Rona: 7
It was a beautiful Monday
evening, the players. were excit-
ed and the fans were keen. The
Dundee Private Investors U10
had their first game, and it v.'s
against Rona U 10.
We had some awesome saves
by goalkeepers Serenity Scott
and Laura Lee Roesch. The de-
fence tears. of Rychelle Thomas,
Brooklin Shepard and sub Emily
Greer Allin worked hard. There
were some great goal attempts
by forwards Meagan Adams,
Zach Chamas and Tatiana Treb-
ish, but they just couldn't break
through Rona's defence.
The final score was 0-7. They
gave it their best, but most im-
portant, they had fun.
Leddy tops Maitland men's night with 29
On Monday, May 25 Men's League, Bill Led-
dy shot first low net with a score of 29. First low
gross Ray Bedard with 35: Closest to the pin Den-
nis Gatschene on No. 1. Second low gross with a
score of 36 was Corey Haylow. Other winners of
the evening were Dave Wilkinson, Bill Hanly, Tom
Crawford, Duncan MacPherson and Mike Mason.
Tuesday, May 26, Men's Senior League saw 65
players taking to the course. Winners were:
Flight A - Ron Klages, B -
Carl Suchard, C Stu
Mercer, D.- Sam Cino, E - three players tied. F -•
four players tied. Closest to the pin on No. 1 was
Mike Doherty.
• Tuesday Evening Ladies' League a scramble
was played with 11 teams of four.
First team winner: Thora McPherson, Pam Mar-
shall, Audrey Smith and Sally MacEwan. Second
place, Nancy Suchard, Cheryl Smith, Christine
Haylow and Bernie MacDonald. Third place,
Rosemarie Evans, Judith Weaver, Joan Hawley
and Joanne Turner. Fourth place, Velma Haylow,
Muriel Kellough, Maureen Peet and Brenda Mar-
tel. Most Honest - Wendy
Harvey, Delores Klages, Evy
McDonagh and Mary Ellen
Jasper.
Thursday, May 28 Ladies'
League - Six ladies braved
the elements, and all were
winners. Carol Alcock, Mar-
tha Archbold, Joanne Collins,
Diana Rejnovich, Wendy
Harvey and Elsie Yates.
