Timely hitting and great de- fence proved to be the . key in both wins. This year's team consists of Jacob Abbott, Caden Beattie, Evan Buchanan, Kaleb Connelly, Liam Doherty, Ethan Hewitt, Riley MacPhee, Callum Robinson, Carter Thomlinson, Zachary • Widmeyer and Dmitri Wolterbeek. If you want to see some young guns strutting their stuff on the ball diamond, the boys play every Tuesday night at Ag Park. Big Brothers, Big Sisters golf tournament tees off for charity If you speak to any avid golfer, they will say it never rains on the golf course, the sun always shines and it is never too cold or too hot to golf! Big Brothers Big Sisters' Annual 'Charity Golf Tourna- ment is being held at Woodlands Links Golf Course, Clinton on Saturday, June 13, and it promises to be a memorable event for all participants. All revenue from the golf tournament will be desig- nated solely to Big Brothers Big Sisters of North and South Huron. Both Big Brothers Big Sisters agen- cies are non-profit charitable organiza- tions making a difference in the lives of youth ages 6 — 18 ye • by building futures for children and ) ith through friendship. The agencies provide a safe forum where children in need experience posi- tive relationships with caring adults in order to strengthen,, and enhance their personal development. The agencies re- ceive no government funding and rely on fundraising ventures as well as com- munity contributions through Huron United Way to meet their budgetary re- quirements. For $80 each golfer will receive a free golf shirt, f.8 holes of golf, a BBQ lunch, the opportunity to win -generous prizes, and the personal satisfaLtion of knowing that they have made an invalu- able . contribution to youth within our community. Those individuals wishing to play nine holes have, the option of do- ing so for $65. Hole Sponsorship is also available for $75. Both Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Huron and Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Huron have a waiting list of youth seeking entry into their agency's programs and services. With the economic downturn, fundraising has become a priority and is crucial in the. agencies' ability to connect kids with mentors that will help them learn, grow, and succeed.
