JEAN GRACE CROFT
1918-2009
Jean passed away peacefully, with her family
by her side, on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at
St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener. She was the
cherished wife of 68 years to Donald and
beloved mother of Barrie and his wife Joyce.
Jean was the proud grandmother of Warren
and wife Lisa, Melanie and husband Jeremy,
and step -grandmother to Roberta and husband
Paul, Jeff and wife Alison. She was sister-in-
law of Jay and husband Stan. She was great-
grandmother to Emma and step -great-
' grandmother to Taylor, Kyle, Michael, Olivia,
Matthew, Cameron and Rachael. Jean will be
missed by nieces, Sue Mathews, Pat Pfrimmer,
Kathie Moran and their families, and nephews,
Don Jones, John Adams, David Talbot, John
Talbot and their families. She will also be
greatly missed by many great-nieces and
nephews. Predeceased by sister, Ruth Adams.
Jean loved people and was a dedicated teacher
- first as a junior public school teacher, then as
a teacher for special needs children. Jean and
Don moved around to many areas in
Southwestern and Northern Ontario, and she
taught in most of these areas. They indeed had
a very full life. At one time, they owned a
house, a cottage and a home in Florida. They
were told they were crazy, but they sure had
fun. Don and Jean did a lot for their community
- helping with Meals on Wheels, working with
the church projects and always willing to give
a hand to those who needed it. Jean will be
missed by all who knew and loved ' her.
Honouring Jean's wishes, cremation has taken
place. Friends were invited to share their
memories of Jean with her family during
visitation at the Erb & .Jood Family Funeral
Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Tuesday,
May 19, 2009 from 1-2 p.m. The memorial
service was held in the
chapel
at
2
p.m.
Following the service, friends were invited to
join the family for a reception and a time to
visit. Interment will take place at a later date in
Maitland Cemetery, Goderich. Condolences
for the family and, in lieu of flowers, donations
to St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church or the
Canadian Cancer Society may be arranged
through the funeral home at www.erbgood.
