The Community Development
Partnership Committee (CDPC)
had some tough choices to make
Friday, as the final votes were cast
on who would create the new Town
of Goderich web site.
E -Solutions, a Waterloo -based
web design and marketing com-
pany, was the final winner after a
4-2 vote.
Also vying for the spot was
Atomic North, a new arrival in
Goderich and the only other tender
submitted in the request for pro-
posals.
"We have to have local consid-
eration," said Mike Strickland, the
BIA representative on the CDPC.
"It's big business versus small
business."
Strickland and mayor Deb Shew-
felt were the only votes for Atomic
North.
After hearing proposals from
both companies last week, Huron
County planner Joyce Wilson com-
piled the committee's responses
and scoring, and E -Solutions was
well ahead of their local counter-
part in all categories.
However, the issue of choosing
an out-of-town provider over a lo-
cal company continued to domi-
nate discussion.
"Just because you're small
doesn't mean you can't be good,"
said councillor Myles Murdock.
Several committee members
said if they knew they wanted to
use a local service anyway, there
shouldn't have been requests for
proposals.
"Why go through RFPs if we are
just going to pick (the local one)?"
asked Larry McCabe.
The CDP is currently taking
RFPs for their Market Goderich
strategy. Wilson said the requests
were only sent out to companies
with a Huron County connection,
and all local companies were in-
vited to participate.
The committee will meet next
June 19 at 8:30 a.m. in the Hydro
board room.

This year the AMGH
Auxilians topped last year's
funds raised by over $300.
May 15 was Tag Day in
Goderich, as auxilians col-
lected donations to be
used in the purchase of
medical equipment for the
local Hospital. The
Alexandra Marine and
General Hospital Auxiliary
is grateful to the many gen-
erous Goderich and area
residents who helped us to
net a total of $3,494.88 for

While the search for
missing Dungannon -area
resident Ronald Hallam
continues, Huron OPP are
quickly running out of new
leads.
"We've exhausted ev-
ery avenue and option we
have," Const. Joanna Van
Mierlo said recently, "we're
stuck."
Since his March 25 dis-
appearance, Hallam has left
little in the way of clues for
local police to follow. With
nothing new to report, Van
Mierlo said the ongoing in-
vestigation relies on public
assistance now more than
ever.
"Investigators are con-
tinuing to follow-up on any
piece of information re-
ceived from the public, and
once again we're asking if
anyone knows anything,
if they think they've seen
anything at all, that could
be the piece of information
that heats up this case. We
man case coolin
have been back for subse-
quent searches, however -
beyond the initial few days,
but we have had less than
five tips on the case" Van
Mierlo said.
A crime unit continues
to search for 66 -year-old
Hallam after he left his
Dungannon -area home
and went into the nearby
woods at Saratoga Swamp
on the morning of March
25. Police say Hallam, an
avid hunter, may have been
armed at the time.
The Huron OPP called
off their extensive ground
search on March 27 fol-
lowing two -days of foot,
canine and aerial search ef-
forts surrounding Hallam's
property, as well as home -
to -home searches of neigh-
boring properties.
Ronald Hallam is de-
scribed as 5' 8" tall weigh-
ing approximately 2(X) lbs.
He is balding with grey hair.
He was last seen wearing a
red and black lumberjack
style jacket, a black ball
cap, light coloured work
pants, a dark grey t -shirt
and work boots.
His residence is iocated
near Saratoga Swamp. Hiss
direction of travel is un-
known although police do
believe he left his residence
on foot.
Huron OPP continues to
seek further information.
Hallam may be armed, but
police do not believe he is a
danger to others.
Members of the public
are still being asked to con-
tact the Huron OPP imme-
diately at 1-800-310-1122
or Crime Stoppers- 1-800-
222-8477 with any infor-
mation in this case or any
sightings of Ronald Hal-
lam.
Hallam's sister, Kathy
Driscoll has arranged for a
trust fund to be established
to benefit Maragrct Hal-
lam, wife of Ronald Hal-
lam. The account has been
opened in Maraget's name
at the Credit Union on St.
