Canada has a plan for the
safe and secure long-term
management of its used
nuclear fuel.
You are invited to participate In its Implementation.
In 2008, the Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO)
initiated a dialogue with interested organizations and
individuals on important principles and elements
for a fair process to identify an informed and
willing community to host a deep
geological repository for the safe
containment and isolation of Canada's r
used nuclear fuel for the long term.
Guided by this input, we have ;!
developed a discussion document
outlining a Proposed Process for
Selecting a Site. x A
The discussion document describes the
project that will involve the establishment
of a deep geological" repository J and an
associated centre of expertise. It reviews
scientific and technical requirements that will
guide selection of an appropriate site to ensure safety. It describes implementation of the
project through a partnership with an informed, willing community, to foster well-being
and sustainability. And it outlines proposed steps through which• interested communities
would be able to learn more as they consider potential interest in hosting this project.
We invite you to review the discussion document, and share your thoughts on whether
this proposed process is appropriate, and what changes may need to be made. We invite
and welcome you to an upcoming information session in your region. Your comments will
assist the NWMO in refining and confirming an open, fair and inclusive Process for
Selecting a Site for this national infrastructure project.

More than 70 hikers hit the trails on
Sunday in both Goderich and Wingham in
support of Huron Hospice Volunteer
Services, and it turns out, 70 hikers is worth
about $7,000.
That's the grand -total figure released
Monday by the care relief organization as
the result of the fifth annual Hike for
Hospice, a nation-wide fundraising effort,
and the biggest one for the Huron outlet.
"We're thrilled, people were very generous
to us," said an upbeat Shirley Dinsmore,
Huron Hospice Executive Director.
In Goderich, hikers went the distance
along the Menesetung Trail and ended up at
• the CPR rail station where they were treated

Huron Hospice is a dedicated team of
volunteers who provide companionship, lis-
tening and emotional support to residents
who are facing a life-threatening illness or
injury.
The volunteers offer relief to enable pri-
mary caregivers to feel comfortable to take
time away or rest at no cost. Currently,
Huron Hospice is working towards estab-
lishing an online registration and pledge envi-
ronment through their Web site, www.huron-
hospice.ca, where hikers and contributors
can take part through the convenience of the
Internet.
