"Give her a little push and get out of there." The 'her' in question in Goderich's own Natalie Grguric, and both she and Vodden are freshly returned finm this year's Golden Gloves competi- tion in Kitchener -Waterloo with sil- ver to show for it. "Make her off balance:' Killam interjects as the younger fighter looks for a way out of the two-fisted conun- drum he wandered into. 'Fuming to another young fighter, Killam offers a different set of in- structions. "Four straights, four hooks. Four straights, four hooks." When all the boxers are engaged in their drills, Killam starts recounting the tournament, and Grgurics very close loss by decision to Hamilton's Amanda Beaudin. "When the decision was announced, the crowd booed," Killam says with pride in his .voice. "I've watched the fight on tape and I couldn't see how we lost that fight." Grguric never got tired, kept her head and feet moving and executed what Killam calls an "almost flawless fight." By this time, the buzzer sounds and the sparring round is over. Grguric jumps right into the discussion. "My head got jarred," said the featherweight fighter. "But that's just one punch. I blocked a ton more. "It was busy." Back in Goderich with time to spare before her May 24 bouts in Ha- nover, Grguric is once again making boxing available to all at the end of the month. Take Heart Huron is funding six weeks of free boxing classes for kids 18 and under beginning May 25.
