Renova- tions to the main office and student services sections of GDCI are underway and we're anxious to see what our new spaces will be like. As is the case every year, there will be some staff changes. The exemplary careers of a couple of retiring teachers, Ms. Barbara Ann Ottewell and Mr. Chris Connor, will be celebrated by all of us here at the high school. Other staff changes are unclear at this time, but we hope for as little change as possible! Without a doubt, the most anticipated change to next school year will be the move- ment of the grade seven and eight students into GDCI. The staff and students at GDCI have planned a num- ber of events designed to welcome those students to their unique situation. The first of these events comes up next week. On May 14 we will have an evening of motivation and infor- mation for those students, their parents, as well as any other members of the broad- er school community of the entire region around Goderich. Prinapafs Corner with George MacEwan All parents of school chil- dren are encouraged to attend. At 6:30 p.m., we will start off strong with the dynamic and entertaining motivational pre- sentation of Andy Thibodeau. Andy has spoken at GDCI in past years and is a favourite among staff and students alike. After, we will steal away the students who we know will be attending GDCI as Grade 7 and 8 students next year and introducing them to a school dance just for them. Our student council will host them for a couple of hours of their kind of music in our east gym. While they're dancing away, we will follow with two other excellent presentations. Mr. Jeff Reaburn, System Prin- cipal of Information Services with the Avon Maitland District School Board, will provide a brief insight into the importance of Internet safety for students and their parents. It is our hope that many parents and com- munity members will be able to attend and learn more about how the AMDSB prepares for students.
