Mr.Wilfrid Strapton, of Stephen
,
had the misfortune to fracture his
collar bone at Grand Bend on Wed-
nesday of "last week :while participat-
ing in one of the races at the Janies
street Sunday School picnic. ` He and,
Charlie Fisher were competing in a
jockey race. They had run half the
distance and had just changed places
when Wilfred with Charlie on his
back overbalanced and fellstriking
with 1 e
his shoulder wit the above result
The accident is doubly unfortunate
in that it comes, just at harvest time.
AUTO ACCIDENTS
Mr. Orville Carni, of 'Usborne, met
with an auto accident on the London.
road south near Clandeboye on Wed-
nesday of last week. He had just
passed overa culvert when another,
car coming from the opposite direc-
tion collided with his car. The
fender of his 'car was damaged and
the axle hent. Fortunately no one
was hurt.
On Wednesday afternoon of last
week while Miss Bettie Sweet was
driving to Grand Bend in her Ford 66
car accompanied by her mother, tars,
S. Atkinson and Miss E. M. Bowey,
she had the misfortune to be upset

Troop No.1, Boy Scouts held their an-
nual service in Caven Presbyterian.
Church , and the occasion was one of
the bright spots in the history of the
Boy Scouts in Exeter. The trous congre

united for the occasion, and the;audie
tonin of the church was filled.
Members of the Bov Scouts acted as
ushers` and collectors• ' Troop=Leader'
Stuart Stanbury presided at the

while Scouts Bob Gambrill, Ba-
den Powell, Kenneth Stanbury and
Jack Gambrill accompanied on the
violins. Scout Reg. Beavers` sang a
solo that, Was greatly ' appreciated
while Kenneth Stanbury and Bob.
Gambrill played a collection volun-
tary. The boys all deserve .a great
deal of praise for the Creditable way
in which they acquitted themselves..
Scout -Master Thos. Pryde presided
over the 'service. The scripture les -1
son was read by J. •M. Southcott; 1
Rev. G. H. McAlister led in prayer. 1
The special speaker for the occasion
was Rev. A. Stanley Cree, Rector of ;
the Church of the Redeemer, London,
himself a Scoutmaster` of one of the
London Troops: lir. Cree 'preached
a very excellent sermon taking as his
text Sam. 3, 5 `Here ani I, for' thou
callest me." A collection was taken
up on behalf of the Boy Scouts and
met withh a liberal response. A pro-
fusion of flowers banked 'the pulpit.
