The construction of Goderich Town Hall
is not only ahead of schedule, under bud-
get as well.
Marc Crane of Avis Architecture told a
very pleased council that the newly updat-
ed completion date is December 17, two
weeks sooner than previously set.
In lisitng the changes that need to be
made to the building plans, Crane noted
these came in about $44,000 under bud-
get. The town had set aside $125,000 for
change orders originally.
Changes to be made include electrical
and sanitary work, aluminum fire doors
and stainless steel hardware.
The good news for town council also ex-
tends to local business.
Crane told council Avis were able to find
Canadian -made all-weather windows that
could be supplied locally through Rona.
Meanwhile, council also looked at the
possibility of going paperless when the ad
dition is completed.
Mayor Deb Shewfelt noted the work be-
ing done by Hurontel installing fibre optics
in town, and suggested council use their
services.
"They're spending millions in this town,"
he said. "We should help them out."
Telephone equipment for the new town
hall will also be provided locally through
Microage.
