GDCI's gymnasiums were dom-
inated by local volleyball players
on Saturday, as the Goderich Co -
Ed Volleyball year end tournament
took the local courts by storm.
With 19 teams split into three
divisions, each of the team's 23
league games made its mark, as the
two -loss elimination tournament
was based on previous results.
Favoured leaders the Go Getters
and Team Ramrod entered the 'A'
division tournament with strong
. seasons (22-0-1 and 21-1-2 re-
spectively), but Cubs and Cougars
took home the gold with the Go
Getters coming second and Team
Ramrod coming third.
The 'B' division saw P.O.P. and
Balls Deep leading the pack (14-
1-8 and 13-2-9), and Balls Deep
proved they were first -place mate-
rial with their win. P.O.P. took the
silver and Late Arrivals were just
on time for third place.
The 'C' division was lead by the
Oddballs and the All Blacks (6-0-
16 and 6-0-17), but the Oddballs
were completely shut out of the
medals. The Warriors took 'C' di-
vision gold, the All Blacks came
in second and the Huron County
Rednecks took bronze.

Coaches invaluable community assets

We're not going to win this one any-

Where I learned how to play and
win from Wally, I learned how to be
patient and gracious in defeat in high
school.
But, I also learned a lot about the
games I was playing and am thank-
ful for just about everything but the
.
shuttle -runs.
Had nobody decided to take the ini-
tiative and make the commitment to us
as coach, I'd still be shooting air -balls
and taking spikes off the forehead...
moreso. Worse still, I never would
have had the chance to play.
So, if you have a coach you want to
tout, this is your chance. It doesn't have
to be as big, annoying or wordy as this
one, but let's let Goderich know about
the backbone of our sports teams.
