"It was a long time coming," said Captain Tim Andrews. "Thanks to the community for coming through for us time and time again." The new building not only houses the thrift store, but also food bank and family services, where people can go for emergency food hampers or accommodations or any of the other services offered. At the rear of the building is the drop-off area for furniture, clothing and items for the thrift store. Andrews said anyone with food donations can drop them off on the east side of the building. Although the store just opened its doors after a moving hiatus, commu- nity support has been overwhelming. Lineups on the opening day stretched the length of the building at one point. Andrews said between the closing of the old store on The Square and the opening of the new Suncoast location, they were able to complete- ly fill their larger retail space. "During that three weeks, we were Photo b Captain Tim Andrews and Becca Allen sort through the many gener- ous donations at the new Salvation Army Thrift Store on Suncoast Drive. The store opened last Thursday. Gerard Creces able to fully stock the store with new merchandise," said Andrews. "It all came from local donations." He added the donation drive re- cently held by local radio station 104.9 The Beach was also "wildly successful".
