Search for Hallam continues

With little new information trick-
ling into the Huron OPP, officers
tasked with locating the missing Ash-
field-Colborne-Wawanosh man are
following up with any new piece of
information offered.
According to Const. Joanna Van
Mierlo, Huron OPP are now work-
ing with Canadian border control as
well as 66 -year-old Ronald. Hailam's
financial institutions in the hopes that
something may turn up.
A crime unit has been assigned to
continue the search for Hallam after
he left his Dungannon -area home and
went into the nearby woods at Sarato-
. ga Swamp on the morning of March
25. Police say Hallam, an avid hunter,
may have been armed at the time.
"The missing person investigation
is still ongoing and the crime unit as-
signed to the case continues to plug
away at each lead that comes in," said
Van Mierlo Monday.
She reported
that tips have
been coming in
from throughout
the county, but so
far, none has led
to a solid lead.
"My under-
standing is that the tips haven't pro-
duced any valid information," said
Van Mierlo, "but, all it takes is one."
Hallam has been entered into the
Canadian Police Information Centre
(CPIC), a computerized system that
provides tactical information about
crimes, criminals, and missing per-
sons. Van Mierlo said that this allows
police agencies across the country to
share information quickly.
"We have him flagged on CPIC as
missing. That means if he showed
up in British Columbia, for example,
they'd know that he's been reported
missing."
The Huron OPP called off their ex-
tensive ground search on March 27
following two -days of foot, canine
and aerial search efforts surrounding
Hallam's property, as well as home -
to -home searches of neighboring
properties.
Ronald Hallam is described as 5' 8"
tall weighing approximately 200 lbs.
He is balding with grey hair. He was
last seen wearing a red and black lum-
berjack style jacket, a black ball cap,
light coloured work pants, a dark grey
t -shirt and work boots.
His residence is located near Sara-
toga Swamp. His direction of travel is
unknown although police do believe
he left his residence on foot.
Huron OPP continues to seek fur-
ther information. Hallam may be
armed, but police do not believe he is
a danger to others.
Members of the public are still be-
ing asked to contact the Huron OPP
immediately at 1-800-310-1122 or
Crime Stoppers - 1-800-222-8477
with any information in this case or
any sightings of Hallam.

Shipka Line, in the Municipality of
South Huron.

TEENS INJURED IN JOYRIDE
One area teen is resting in a London
hospital with serious injury and
another suffered broken bones after a
Saturday evening joyride around a
private property in Bluewater.
On April 4, at approximately 8
p.m., Huron OPP officers were dis-
patched to a residence on London
Road in response to a report of a
male party injured in a collision on
private property. Investigation
reveals that a group of friends decid-
ed to drive a 1953 GMC pickup
truck around the property after being
able to get the vehicle to start. The
truck did not have a box on the chas-
sis so a sofa was placed on the open
chassis for riders to sit on. The
group drove around the property a
few times before the sofa fell off
and the four riders fell off as well.
One 17 -year-old female suffered
broken bones and one 17 -year-old
male suffered serious injuries. The
male was taken to the London Health
Sciences Centre for treatment and
remains in hospital. The investiga-
tion remains ongoing and charges
may be pending.
