Annual Lions clean up in Dungannon
Hello everyone. It's Monday
morning and like many of you,
I woke up to find snow flying
around - again. I hadn't put my
winter coat away just yet, but at
this rate, I'm afraid I might still
have to be wearing it come July!
No matter, for now, I'm cozy in
front of my fireplace having a
chat with all of you kind folks,
and sipping a cup of that new red
tea. Let's get right into the good
stuff shall we.
The Lions annual clean up is
scheduled for April 18. Those
helping out are to meet at the
Dungannon Park at 9:00 a.m.
Bring shovels, rakes and gloves.
This year the Lions are offering
assistance to seniors, or others
in our village, unable to do their
own lawn clean-up. If able, the
recipients of the volunteer labour
are asked to donate something to-
ward the appreciation luncheon
put on by the church. Rain date
for the work -party (and lunch),
is April 25. For more informa-
tion you can contact Nancy Riv-
ett at 519-529-3130.
Second meeting of Phase 2, of
the Revitalization of Dungannon,
is Thursday April 2, 7:00 p.m. at
the Seniors' Centre. Everyone is
welcome.
Lions Club, is holding their
2nd Annual Dog Walk May 31.
Pledge sheets are available at

April 9 is Family Fun Bin-
go night 7:30 p.m. at the Nile
Church.
A surprise party was held at the
Goderich Legion for my sister,
Ruth Brindley's, milestone birth-
day on March 21. More than 70
people came from Kincardine,
London, Woodstock and points in-
between, including several from
Dungannon and area. Another
birthday milestone celebration on
the 22, and using a much smaller
number, was niece Cristina Crow-
ley. I am not giving out numbers,
but she doesn't look a day over
someone half her age. No mile-
stone but important none -the -less
is sister Adele Drennan's birthday,
held the same week. Lots to sing
about. Happy Birthday everyone.
Many Canadian families have
had to say their good-byes as
young men and women head
overseas to war, prepared to make
the ultimate sacrifice. This past
Friday it was our turn. Many of
our family members congregated •
in Whitby, for a "see you soon"
party for nephew Brent McNair,
who heads for Afghanistan within
the week. Brent is eldest son of
my brother, Neil McNair, for-
mer Goderich resident,' and cur-
rently of London. Our thoughts
and prayerswill be with him, and
with all the men and women serv-
ing our country, until they are all
once again home safe. While we
wish it weren't necessary for any-
one to go, we are very proud of
Brent, his efforts, and his love for
Canada. God's speed Brent, we
all love you.
Son Steven. and Monica cel-
ebrated their anniversary this
weekend. We did our part to help
celebrate with a family dinner
here at the 'ponderosa'. Our en-
tire family was able to participate
making it a great time. Happy An-
niversary.
Euchre recently: George Err-
ington with 73 and Tom Young
with 65. Jean Errington with 73
and Adeline Allen had 71. Lone
hands, Margaret Young with 4.
White card, John Andrew 75,
Dave Sproul 69. Pink card, Doug
Harris 70, Rieta Harris 64. Lone
hands, Jay McColl and John
Hagedorn both with 3.
That's it for another two weeks.
