The Goderich Peewee AE Sail- ors are the newest Western Ontar- io Athletic Association (WOAA) champions after a sweep of their playoffs earlier in the month. Punctuated with a brief stint at Young Canada Week, the Sail- ors got the wins where it counts, taking down Drayton, Clifford and Monkton on their way to the WOAA championship. In each series, the Sailors took two straight games to emerge victorious and as the team se- cured themselves inside the lad- der atop the fire truck Saturday, the excitement continued. Coaches Darren Evans and John Graham say the team's suc- cess is due to how well the boys get along and work together. "They worked hard and devel- oped as a team over the year," said Graham. "Definitely they all got along as a bunch of friends." The AE team also want to thank the service club that made their YCW appearance possible. The Goderich Kinsmen donat- ed their $400 entry fee to Young Canada Week, something both coaches and players appreciated.
