The Goderich Junior 'C' Sailors will be
hailing a new chief again next year, this
time in the form of Clinton's .Todd Goetz.
The new head coach comes to the God-
erich bench after serving the past six years
with the Huron -Perth 'AAA' Lakers - five
as head coach.
"His name was put forth to us by a couple
people;" said Sailors general manager. Ken
Crawford, "And we're very pleased to take
him on board."
Goetz said he hopes to bring some struc-
ture and character to the team, which he
added has been making "terrific efforts"
over the past few years.
Paramount to this, he said, is
developing the athletes them-
selves - something he is a strong
believer in.
"Our program will be keenly
interested in the performance
of the player and the advance-
ment of the players," he said.
"We will have a very structured
environment that will be play-
er -oriented."
Goetz said the Junior 'C' Sail-
ors have a strong core of ath-
letes and he is looking forward
to working with them as he starts rounding
out the lineup, "with as many strong, com-
mitted athletes as we can find."

Joining Goetz behind the
bench will be another Clinton
connection, Jim Cook. Cook
is head of the physical edu-
cation department at Central
Huron Secondary School and
an Olympic -level coach.
Cook will be mainly in-
volved with individual player
development both on and off
the ice.
"Jim's a character individu-
Goetz al who will be a great mentor
and role model for the Sailor
program," Goetz said.
Next up for the Sailors is filling out the
coaching roster, and after that, the bench.

with Goetz
"We're hoping to initiate contact with po-
tential players very soon," he said. 'Time to
start shaking hands and kissing babies, so
to spear."
Goetz said he will be holding several
skates over the summer to make the final
selections and begin fine-tuning next sea-
son's lineup.
He said Goderich's commitment to sport
is more than evident after Young Canada
Week, and he hopes that will continue into
the 2009-10 Sailors season.
"Goderich has.a wonderful facility and a
very committed executive in place," he said.
"Hopefully our on -ice program will reflect
all of the good work behind the scenes."
