The approvals were in keep- ing with earlier decisions to consolidate all of the town's Kindergarten -to -Grade 6 stu- dents at one facility, and relo- cate all Grades 7 and 8 students into Goderich District Colle- giate Institute (GDCI). Effective September, 2010, Victoria Public School will close. In preparation for accept- ing all K-6 students at what's now known as Robertson Me- morial Public School (but will become Goderich Public School), the board determined the facility requires a five -room addition. Meanwhile, work will also be undertaken by the board at GDCI. At the March 24 meet- ing, trustees approved the low bid of $888,534 following a tendering process for upgrades at GDCI. The successful bidder was Norton Builders. The GDCI renovation doesn't include classroom space, since it was determined that class- room reorganization could adequately accommodate the Grades 7 and 8 students. But the work will include upgrades to administration and guidance offices, creation of an elemen- tary (Grades 7 and 8) adminis- tration space, storage space, and upgrades to emergency and exit lighting, the fire alarm system and the public address system.
