Mount Forest claims girls' title for 2009
The Girls Division of Young
Canada Week Wrapped up with
an exciting match between Mount
Forest and Grey Highlands on Sun-
day evening.
The game had been dominated
by Grey Highlands, maintaining a
1-0 led as they entered the third,
but Mount FQrest was not to be
counted out yet. A late goal in the
third period lead to a short over-
time period in which Mount Forest
completed their comeback, taking
the championship with a 2-1 win.
The consolation prize went to
Blyth/Brussels for their 3-2 win
over Goderich.
Semi-final matches saw Grey
Highland in another match they
couldn't finish in regulation.
Through three periods, and one
four on four overtime period, Grey
Highland and Blyth/Brussels were
tied at 1-1, and a shootout say
Brussels/Blyth victorious.
Mount Forest triumphed over
Goderich in their semi-final match -
up, 3-0.

Mount Forest had
reason to celebrate
Sunday, after win-
ning the Girls 'C'
Division 2-1 over the
Grey Highlands.

Mount Forest was set up for their
championship win well, having
gone undefeated with wins against
Chatsworth (4-0), Seaforth (2-0)
and BlythlBrussels (3-4)
Grey Highlands did just as well
in their division, beating out Wi-
arton (4-1), Goderich (4-1) and
Tiverton (7-0) to earn their place in
the semi-finals.
Consolation winners Blyth/Brus-
sels beat Seaforth (2-1) and Chats-
worth (6-3) in round robin play,
and narrowly lost to champions
Mount Forest (4-3)
Locally, Goderich beat Tiverton
(6-0) and Wiarton (6-1) to earn
their spot in the semi-finals, but
were beaten by Grey Highlands in
the round robin.

Kincardine takes first in 'B' Division
In 'B' division finals action at
Young Canada Week, Kincardine
beat St. Mary's • 2-0 for the cham-
pionship.
Goderich won the consolation
championship against Wallaceburg,
5-2.
During the semi-finals action,
Kincardine beat Wallaceburg to
advance to the finals, 3-1 and St.
Mary's beat Goderich 4-3.
Locally, Goderich lost their first
matchup against champions Kin-
cardine (2-1), but beat St. Mary's
and Wallaceburg (4-3) in round
robin play.
Kincardine beat Goderich, Mount
Brydges (4-0) and Mitchell (5-0)
for their shot at the semi-finals.
Wallaceburg tied Mount Bry-
dges (3-3), beat Mitchell (4-0), and
lost to Goderich to get their shot at
gold.

TAXES DUE REMINDER
The first instalment of the 2009 tax 1(•vy is due on March 31,
2009. Tax payments must be received at the municipal office by
the due date. Tax payments can be made in person at the
municipal office, by regular mail, or at the CRIC Goderich
branch only. Interac/debit card services are accepted at the
office as well as post-dated cheques for your convenience.
Telephone/internet banking is available through most major
banking institutions. Pre -authorized payment is available by
completing a form from the office and providing a VOID cheque.
After hour payments may be left in the letter slot located at the
front door.
Taxes not paid by the due date are subject to interest of 1.25%
per month. Failure to receive a tax notice does not relieve the
taxpayer from responsibility for payment nor the liability of
\ena1t charges for late payment.

The Kincadine Kinucks took home gold in the 'B' division Monday.
Runners up St. Mary's beat
Mitchell (6-1) and Mount Brydges
(6-4) in round robin play, but lost to
Goderich (2-0).
