But the Kin 't do it alone,
according to Good. He said that this
year saw a rise in business. and com-
munity 'parties' that turned the live -
broadcast auction into the focal point
of gdod-hearted fun get-togethers
throughout Goderich and Clinton.
"I know that in some taverns, res-
taurant and :home's, the auction was
featured on big -screens," he said.
"I think that makes it an even more
• enjoyable way to get involved along
with family and friends."
And, watching the . action live
means that viewers have a batter
chance of winning last-minute 'en -
i
hancements'• to items, like Huron -
Bruce .MP Ben Lobb's late addition
to an Ottawa dinner getaway, offer-
ing Senators tickets, museum entry
and even a seat during a Queen's
Park question and answer period.
"There are often a few items that
get last-minute .enhancements like
that during the auction;" Good said.
"That's -why it's a good idea to follow
the broadcast live." • •
In the coming weeks, Kinsmen and
Kinette members will meet to be-
ing the initial stages of planning the
2010 auction installment, and Good
said that there are many new ideas
that may be worth consideration.
. "We're looking into maybe incor-
porating more . internet . coverage,
branching out into more communi-
ties like Exeter, could we pull off an
internet auction -- just things like that
are worth discussing," Good said.
. Last year, the auction raised near-
ly $50,000 that was split between the
participating clubs to benefit their
own and surrounding communities.
Every dollar raised above the orga-
nizational costs is destined to be put
back into the community through.
donation and bursaries. .
The annual fundraiser is a joint
venture between the Goderich and
Clinton Kinsmen and Kinette Clubs.
