We can play with the top team in the league, and Ithink we're going to do the same with Lu - can," Bazinet said. The series started on Saturday, February 28 in Lucan. "It's do or die time," Bazinet explained be- fore their first game of this series. He was op- timistic, stating that the team has grown i lot since they started the year. While no one likes to lose, the quick first series may work out in Goderich's favor, as the time off has given players a chance to recuperate and recover from their injuries. Bazinet explained that several players were missing from some of their games against Petrolia, including Dave Meriam, who had a baby born and missed half of the series. "We were missing a couple guys during the series, but the time off has served us well. The only person we'll be missing is Ryan Samworth, who has been out since January 23 with a wrist injury. That's a big loss for us on the point. He really improved quite a bit over the season. Other than that, we'll be at full strength though," Bazinet said. Bazinet has high hopes though, saying they are definitely ready to face the oncoming challenge. "Everyone is ready to go," Bazinet ex- plained. "We're going to be the underdog, but we're hoping to surprise Lucan and move on." Bazinet explained that their overtime loss was really just a matter of momentum, and Monkton 1 Tavistock 1 611MaNNONOHONOMMORS Clinton 0 Shelburne 2 Elora 0 Saugeen Shores 1 Palnacrston 0 Drayton 1 Durham 0 Ripley Lucknow that Goderich just needs to find a way to be on top at the end. "We came back, we were down 2-1," he said. "We took the lead, made it 3-2. Then [The Jets] scored with 42 seconds left to send it into overtime. It was a real momentum shifter. They scored three minutes into OT to win." This is our seventh loss in a row, but we lost every game to Petrolia by one gotl, and now we lost, this one by one goal. No ones playing bad, we're just trying to find the way to win." The game started out rough, according to Bazinet, with Lucan-Ilderton pushing the body hard until three fights erupted in the first ten minutes of the game. Goderich's James Gartshore recieved a game misconduct and an additional one game suspension for partic- ipating in the second fight after a stoppage. Goderich's goals were scored by Sean Bur- ton, urton, Matt MacPhee, and Deryk Whitehead. "MacPhee scored on his first shift," Bazinet explained with a chuckle. "He had car prob- lems on the way up, so he was late, but his first shift on the ice hescored." The Pirates will get home ice advantage with their game on Friday, March 6, at 8:30 p.m. in Goderich. Saturday, March 7 they will see action in Lucan, and Sunday, they will be back in Goderich for a 7:30 p.m. puck drop.
