As the flurry of Oscar
fever winds down in
Hollywood, it's just winding
up in Goderich. The Livery
Spring Fling Film Festival is
putting the finishing touches
on its 2009 line-up, which
includes Canadian gems and
Oscar favorites.
Festival committee repre-
sentative Brigitte Wolf said
recently that she and her
peers are kicking into high -
gear as we enter March, and
are still putting the finishing
touches on festival planning.
"We've got a very impres-
sive line-up this year that
we're all excited about," Wolf
said.
Among them, audience
members will be treated to an
opening night showing of
The Reader, a film for which
British actress Kate Winslet
just took home an Oscar.
Two Canadian notables are
making their Park Theatre
debut as well, Wolf added,
including The Necessities of
Life, which was chosen as
Canada's submission for a
Best Foreign Language Film
Oscar.
"We've also got a Canadian
animated short film done by
the director of The Danish
Poet," Wolf said. "It's not a
recognizable title, but it has
enjoyed a very positive
reception at screenings."
The Livery Spring Fling is
now in its fifth year showing
at the Park Theatre in
Goderich. In the past, its pre-
sentations have drawn cine-
ma lovers from as far away
as London and Stratford, and
Wolf said that Local support-
ers have demonstrated a loyal
following since its incep-
tion.
A full Fling ticket package
can be purchased beginning
this week for $45, and
includes all five films plus
the short along with entry to
the wrap party. A partial
package includes your choice
of three films for $27, and
rush -only individual tickets
per film can be purchased for
$ TO each.
Tickets are available
through The Livery box
• office, Ernie King's Music
and Wuerth's Shoes on The
Square. For more information
call The Livery box office at
519-524=6262, or visit the
Web site www.thelivery.ca,
where you can find detailed
information on each film.
