Grguric loses decisi
Gerard Crowe*

"Exciting as hell," was how trainer
Kirk Killam described Goderich boxer
Natalie Grguric's Saturday night fight
against Amber Williams. "Just crazy."
It was a close decision, with Grguric
winning the first round unanimously.
However, Williams would take the next
two, and the fight as well.,
Though she didn't win the fight, Gr-
guric has put another mark on Williams'
ndefeatrecord - the only boxer to
win a round against the juggernaut.
Fighting in the second slot of the
evening, Grguric exploded in the first
round, and Killam said while the wom-
en's matches were outnumbered great-
ly, they were the most punch -heavy of
the night.
"The two girls' fights they had were
more exciting than the 10 guys' fights
they had," he said. "No fouls, non-stop
punching, action in every round."
anis
He said the difference is in the ap-
proach, with the ladies getting right
down to business.
"Guys fight more like a•chess match
- trying to set stuff up," he said. "Girls
just come out banging."
Killam was to take on Darren Fletch-
er, but the fight was cancelled due to
his opponent's no-show. . ,5sasr
He said while disappointing, it does
give himself time to get back down to
his 140 weight class.
• However, he will. be taking the ring
against 170 -pound Daniel Zcoska Feb.
22 in London. Zcoskz has a five and
two record.
Grguric will be once again taking
the ring against Jen Barnai, looking to
avenge a decision loss from late last
year. ',. ;;`,, y,
