Don, who has been retired for several years, has decided to come back to the business world to fol- low a passion that he started to pur- sue while running Sunset Blinds, and hopes to now sell billiards and gaming supplies as a full-time gig. "This was always a passion of mine," he explained. "To open something like this. It's needed in this part of the country. Don explained that, like many of the new businesses that have opened up in the Business Im- provement Area, the closest place you can find similar products to his is London, or Walkerton, and he feels Goderich needs access to the products he off . Whether a shopper is looking for a new dart board, a new pool table, or any of the necessary accessories for the games associated, Don be- lieves he has the market cornered, and he believes that the market is going to become a more lucrative one due to current financial situa- tions. "With the economy the way it is, people are looking for more in-home entertainment. We're see- ing a tremendous amount of dart leagues getting going. Not only at places like the Legion, but in a lot of the parks, like Pine Lake as an example. They are certainly into setting up dart leagues," he said. He also said that many people want accessories for the leagues they are in, and because of that, personalized darts and personal- ized pool equipment are a big part of his business. "Its amazing the number of pool tables that are in the area as well, Photo by Denny Scott Red Hats have a spa day The Huron Haven Happy Hatters had a spa day at P-Zazz Salon and Spa on Highway 21, just north of Goderich. The store offers mostly residen- tial gaming solutions, but can order in any billiards or darts equipment needed. "We have the availability of do- ing commercial, but 95 per cent is really tesidential, and that is, of course for the pool tables. The ac- cessory market is the big part of the business, and that is everything from pool cues to sets of balls, all the accessories that you would need for your pool table." Don said that, like any business, a lot of his current success is due to watching what sells and what doesn't, and adjusting his sales ac- cordingly. He explained that they are in the business of new tables, but they also help customers with older ta- bles through refurbishing, like re - felting. They can also arrange for the moving of tables as well. As far as their new product goes, Don explained that he deals exclu- sively with Oihausen Billiards pool tables, provided by Billiard Whole- salers in Kitchener. The warehouse has many models in stock. There is a catalogue available on the companies Web site, http://www. For the future, Don will be ex- panding into card and board games for older generations. "We are looking at a line of board games and card games geared more to the teen to adult age group. We will offer games such as Pokeno, backgammon, ma jong, and euchre. We'll also be selling poker products, including poker sets, .poker chips, and poker tables," he said. This expansion is due to the good business that the store has experienced thus far, which started with a great Christmas season. Anyone interested in setting up their rec roan with a new dart- board ora pool set can call the store at (519) 440-5038, or visit at 81 Hamilton Street, just beside the Goderich Tourism building.
