In a letter to council, appellant John Hazlitt stated he is with- drawing his appeal. The appeal is no longer before the OMB, how- ever council is awaiting formal notification before officially en- acting the plan. The document took three and a half years to prepare and replaces the current OP, which has been in place since 1981. *** Parsons Court could have some new tenants in 2009. Two small industries have put in offers on property in the industrial area of Parsons Court, including one acre for a small agricultural equipment maker from St. Marys as well as a building for Win - mar out of Stratford. • Winmar - a property resto- ration business - plans to start construction on a 6,000 square - foot building in spring. McCabe acknowledged the concern of many residents who felt, the town should be looking to fill the Volvo complex first, noting the industries coming to town would have workforces of 3-4 people — nowhere near the number needed to occupy the grader manufacturing fa- cilities. Study to gague demand for performance centre Dave *rites signal -star publisher The town of Goderich is cur- rently engaged in a preliminary theatre feasibility study to de- termine whether the community, would benefit from a multi -use facility for performing arts pre- sentations Last Sturday, a consulting group encoura8ed potential user groups to fill out a needs survey to determine if a place of public assembly is required to serve a large range of per- forming arts presentations as well as lectures, films, confer- ences and forums. "We had quite a nice range of arts groups and civic groups and talked about the potential uses of such a facility," Barlow said. "People are excited about a meeting, learning and gather- ing centre. We fully expect that any performing arts develop- ment will result in the reten- tion, restoration and increased use of the historic Livery on South Street." The consultants are asking prospective user groups to par- ticipate in the study process by means of an on-line survey, 0 asking respondents toidentify their activities and venues and whether or not their organiza- tion would be a user of a well- designed performance facility. The survey also needs to iden- tify the general requirements of groups and what their facil- ity needs might be. The survey asks 16 questions and takes 10 minutes _ to complete. Deputy Mayor John Grace, who is working on the town's Theatre Build Committee with Warren Robinson, added that "we need good information and input on the usage requirements of all groups, not just the main users." Barlow said the committee needs a realistic appraisal of 'venue requirements now and in the future, keeping in mind that enhancements to . the Livery and any performing arts centre development may be phased in over a period of five to ten years. Any group interested in fill- ing out the survey for their venue needs or performances should contact Wes MacVicar at the Livery at 519-524-6262.
