"It's an acknowl- edgement of all the hard work... and early mornings." Soehner took the Business of the Year award, the Huron SBCE New Business award and the Huronia Med-e-ox Retail Business award at the Goderich and District Chamber of Commerce's Spirit of Success Awards January 30. The gala evening saw 160 people above the Legion, paying tribute to the more than 250 businesses that be- long to the chamber. Leading the charge was 'N Sew On, with Soehner being nominated repeatedly for his customer and com- munity service. Soehner said the most important part of doing business is putting a smile on the customer's face, and with three awards under his belt — it clearly works for him. Setting an example for young peo- ple in the world of business, Kristal Milley was awarded the Richard Leh - nen Young Entrepreneur award for her work at the Rotary Beach Hut. Milley recorded record profits at the beach hut, as well as managed and scheduled for 18 employees in addi- tion to ordering supplies. The award was proceeded by a video tribute to Lehnen. A special presentation was made to the 41 charter members of the cham- ber of commerce prior to the awards presentation. They will each be pre- sented with an official plaque for their business. Mayor Deb Shewfelt praised the chamber's efforts in keeping com- merce local. He said while the town and the county undergoes economic transition, small business will con- tinue to be the backbone of the com- munity.
