Midget Sailors meet Walkerton in round
The Goderich Midget Rep Sailors are two
games into round two of the playoffs, after
starting a new series with a 4-1 win in Walk-
erton Saturday night.
Down 0-1, a second period goal by Bran-
don Gibson got the puck rolling on the Sailors'
comeback machine, with assists by Shawn
McColl and Coy Kulich.
Once the team found its way around Walk-
erton's goaltender the Sailors dug deep and
netted three more unassisted goals coming
from Kulich, Will Kelly, and James Whitley.
Walkerton struck
first and played a
strong first period.

with a short bench but a quick call to
the clubs affiliate brought up sniper
Lauren Dietrich from the Tweens.
Jayme Austin started the scoring
by picking up her own rebound that
caught Seaforth's netminder Nicole
Chisholm off guard, thanks to a nifty
pass from Chandal Cunningham.
Jessica Hummel bulged the opposi-
tion's twine next for Goderich, when
she drifted a screamer into the lower
part of the net after creative pass-
ing from Ashley Johnson and Colby

Hillier. A classic tic-tac-toe pass play
from Hummel and Lauren Dietrich
gave Johnson an opportunity to score
- which she succeeded in doing. This
goal gave the Goderich ladies a 3-1
lead.
Seaforth responded with a goal,
but L. Dietrich wristed a laser beam
into the top corner at 10:22 of the
second frame to make sure Goder-
ich kept the lead, which was now at
4-2. Cunningham and Austin had the
helpers on the goal. The final goal
was an empty netter by Johnson after
an unselfish assist by Erin Dietrich.
Goderich netminder Meredith
McEwan put in yet another stellar
performance with some• in the jam-
packed stands describing her game
as "a clinic". Steady and reliable best

Austin, Cunningham, . Hummel,
Hillier, Johnson and L. Dietrich kept
up the pressure in the Seaforth zone
with some excellent team play and
great passing. "They kept moving
and were quick to find the open ice"
offered Assistant Coach Michelle
Wilcox.
The last time these two teams met
they skated to a four -all tie, but God-
erich kept their penalty time to a min-
imum this game which was key to
their. success. The Goderich Juniors'
next home game is Sunday, February
1 at the MRC at 1:30 p.m., against
the London Lynx.
