Midgets take lead versus Mitchell in playoffs
Last Sunday, January 11, the Goderich Midget
rep team started their series against the Mitchell
Meteors, and took the first two games.
In their first game, Goderich started out slow,
going down a goal, but by the end of the first they
were ahead thanks to goals by Tyler Durst and Ty-
ler Million.
In the second period, Goderich's William Kelly
extended the lead by one, and that lead would hold
until the third.
Two quick goals by Mitchell tied the game and
forced overtime, but Josh Martel put an end to that
on a rebound goal, assisted by Shawn McColl and
Andrew Hogan -Cann. Lucas Denomme minded
the net for Goderich, helping them get this win.
Their second game, held Jan. 15 at'home, was a
blowout. Goderich dominated Mitchell 4-0. Shawn
Gethke took the shutout, while goals were scored
by Cory Troudeau, Brandon Gibson, McColl and
Million.
Saturday night Goderich had the opportunity to
end the series, but couldn't convert that chance to
a win. Both teams started slow, with . no activity
on the scoreboard until the second period when
Mitchell went up two. A late game goal

by McCall rallied the team, but unfor-
tunately, Mitchell squashed any hopes
of a come -back with an empty net goal,
making the score 3 to 1.
Goderich had another chance to fin-
ish the series Monday night, but results
weren't available as of press time.
