Brigid Kathleen (Quinlan) McGregor passed away peacefully at the age of 54, on Tuesday, December 16, 200,8 surrounded by her entire family and wrapped with the great compassion and care of the medical staff on the •Critical Care Unit at the Brantford General Hospital. Brigid is the loving fir partner and best friend of Murray Brooks and much loved and devoted mother to Steven, Karen and Peter. Brigid is the dearly loved daughter of the late James Michael Quinlan (1966) and the late Dorothy . Margaret Quinlan (Mitchell), (1997). She is the loving sister of Michael Quinlan, Brantford, Patricia Martin (Jim) of Goderich, Molly Walsh of Stellarton, N.S., Maureen Quinlan, Brantford, Loretta Plomley (Roger) of Lion's Head, Nora Gefucia (John) of Brantford, Marty Quinlan (Diane) of Brantford and sister-in-law to Nellie Quinlan of Port Albert, Ontario. She is predeceased by two brothers, Dennis (1991) and Terence (2006). Brigid will be dearly missed by her many nieces 'and nephews, in-laws, and extended family and friends, who welcomed her into their lives. She will be greatly missed by her little dog, "Rusty". Brigid inspired and touched many people at different stages during her life. She made many friends in the Goderich area and was a faithful ball player at the annual Quincy Ball Tournament at Port Albert. She will be dearly remembered for her strength, courage and positive outlook and for giving the gentleness of her heart to those whose lives she touched. She. was and still remains the love of Murray's life. Her unassuming inspiration will live on. The family received friends at the Dennis Toll Funeral Home in Brantford on December 20, 2008. Survived by children . Patrick . (Valerie), Ronan (Susan), Margaret MacDonald (David), Barbara Cartledge (George), Helen Peters (Larry), Peter, sisters-in-law Phylis and Angela Conlon, 26 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by beloved wife Nuala Duffy. Born in Co. West Meath, Ireland son of Michael and Marcella (Farrell), brothers Patrick, Thomas, John and sister Mary Theresa. He was the last of a generation. He graduated in medicine from University College Dublin in 1952 and was former superintendent of the Goderich Psychiatric Hospital, Chief of Psychiatry Alexandra Marine & General Hospital and assistant professor University of Westem Ontario. He was a recipient of the Centennial Medal of Canada, Ontario Medical Association Lifetime Service Award and. a former director of the Ontario Simmental Association. Michael was a proud and compassionate Irishman who lived life to the fullest. He was an avid sportsman, gardener and storyteller. He will be sadly missed. Home, Goderich, on Friday from 2-4 & 74 p.m. Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Goderich, on Saturday January 10, 2009 at 11 a.m. Interment St. Peter's Cemetery. Parish Prayers were held at the funLral home on Friday evening at 6:45 p.m. .Pallbearers were George Cartledge, Dr. Larry Peters, David MacDonald, Dr. Terry Boylan, Peter Conlon, Nicholas Conlon, honorary pallbearer was Alf Costello. Readers were Caroline Peters, Conor and Michael Conlon. Soloist was Finola MacGinty. Mass will be held at St. Mary's Church, Tang, Ireland on Saturday January 17, 2009.
