Reeve Ben Van Diepenbeek said that ACW accomplished many new milestones and projects this year, while continuing on with other proj- ects. The biggest accomplishment was the implementation of ACW's new Comprehensive Zoning By -Law. "We finalized the new compre- hensive zoning by-law. We've got it completed, and, while there are still a couple of appeals being worked on, it is in effect" Reeve Van Diepen- beek explained "There is going to be an Ontario Municipal Board meeting in March to deal with the appeals, but those are the only outstanding is- sues." ACW also contributed to several local fundraising efforts, including the CT Scanner and the Maitland Valley Medical Centre. "We donated $20,000 to the CT Scanner campaign, and that is the second of our five donations, total- ling $100,000," the reeve said. "We also made our final contribution to the Maitland Valley Medical Cen- tre." ACW's $40,000 contribution this year brought the final contribution tally to $100,000. Infrastructure was also on the mind of ACW council, and thats proven by the approximately 20 kilometers of paving that Reeve Van Diepenbeek estimates was done. "We had quite a few construction jobs. We paved Belfast Road for about four blocks and St. Augustine Line for one block." Other repaving and reconstruction projects included Bogey's Beach Road, Nile Road, Zion Road, Belfast Road, and Mid -Huron Beach Road. Other infrastructure changes were also made, covering everything from land improvements and waste to fire protection. "We had qite a few big culvert re- placements, and we closed the West Wawanosh land -fill site in October. All the Wawanosh ward waste will be going to the Ashfield landfill." The Lucknow Fire Department bought a new pumper truck, which ACW split evenly with Huron -Kin- loss, as well as participating in the purchase of Goderich's new aerial fire truck. ACW also purchased a new grader from Volvo during the summer. "We took over all the Lucknow and District Recreation Administra- tion," Reeve Van Diepenbeek ex- plained. "We take care of the bills and the scheduling." Other projects that came to frui- tion this year include the Century Heights water system upgrades, which . brought the system in line with conditions that the Ministry of Environment (MOE) set out, as well as MOE standards. As for the future, ACW residents can expect to see more of the same. "Conditional to budget, we're go- ing to continue with equipment re- placement," the reeve said. "We'll continue paving more roads, but we're not sure which are targeted yam" Also on the agenda will be imple- menting a municipal drinking water and quality system, and managing the water systems in the area. "We're also working on a master drainage plan for Port Albert, that will continue this year with consulta- tion from B.M. Ross of Goderich," Reeve Van Diepenbeek said. The Reeve also wishes to extend his wannest wishes to all residents of the area, saying he hopes they have.a happy and prosperous new year. y Canadkumnade Kitchens QUALITY• ON TIME NORTH STAR 11111M.
