partner Karen of Thorndale, Gregory Baer
and his wife Lori of Goderich, Martha and
her husband Doug Smith of Seaforth, Kevin
Baer and his wife Mary Jean of Exeter,
Shelley and her husband Ron Kirkconnell of
Egmondville, Dale Baer and . his wife
Christine of Brucefield and Tracey and her
husband Brian Cooper of Hensall. Lovingly
remembered by 19 grandchildren and 18
great grandchildren. Also survived by one
brother Ron and three sisters Hazel, Mabel
and Ramona. Respected brother-in-law of
the Phillips family. Predeceased by his
parents Howard and Elsie (Bean) Baer. A
memorial service will be held at Falconer
Funeral Homes Ltd. - Bluewater Chapel,
201 Suncoast Drive, E., Goderich on
Thursday, January 8 at 2 p.m. with Mr.
Bruce Whitmore officiating. Interment of
ashes at Colborne Cemetery. As expressions
of sympathy the family would appreciate
memorial donations to the Diabetes

SHEPHARD
Arthur "Roy" Shephard of Goderich
passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2009
in his 90th year, after a very brief illness at
Alexandra Marine & General Hospital.
Survived by his beloved wife Dorothy, two
sons; David (Margot) and Peter (Marian),
5 grandchildren David (Roz), Correen
(Scott), Dohn (Yukiko), Luke (Shelley)
and Anna (Regan), 13 great grandchildren
Tyler, Joshua, Zachary, Meghan, James,
Yuna, Mei, Leighton, Evey, Emerson,
Hunter,Carter and Camryn. Also survived
by one sister, Jean Hoding and niece Jacky
Hoding of London, England and sister-in-
law Pauline Thiel, nephews Peter, Michael
and Christian and §everal great nieces and
nephews in Germany. Born in Highbury,
London, England on September 12, 1919
to Clara (Stockbridge) and Arthur
Shephard, Roy served in the British Army
with the Royal Electrical and Mechanical
Engineers from 1939-1945, well known
all his life for a wonderful sense of
humor...."Between Spike Miligan and
myself, we won the war". Married to
Dorothy (Gower) of Goderich Place in
1942 for over 66 . years. Roy came to
Canada in 1957, lived in Toronto, Oakville,
Vancouver, he enjoyed a career as an
architect from 1947-1984. An avid
sportsman playing cricket, soccer and
tennis, he also enjoyed travelling the world
with wife Dorothy. Roy was a stamp
collector, a nature lover and gardener and
settled in Goderich in 1995. Cremation has
taken place. A Celebration of Roy's life
will be held in April 2009. Friends may
