Mr. Rd. Cornish is visiting his par-

turned from a trip to England.
Mr, Harry Gould, of Windsor, was
called home last week owing to the
serious illness of his mother, Mrs.
Richard Gould, who is suffering from
pleuro -pneumonia.
While unloading a ear -load of lum-
ber for the Ross -Taylor Co. Mr. Ed.
Stone had the misfortune to get his
hand badly crushed when a pile 'of
lumber overbalanced. The men just
jumped in time, narrowly .escaping
from the lumber falling on them.

Mrs. E.A. Amy returned home Sat-
urday after spending three weeks in
London owing to the illness and sub-
seqUent death of her 'mother-in-law,
Mrs. Thos. Any. Mrs. Amy died on
Tuesday of last week, and the re,
mains Were taken to Goderich on
Friday, for interment.beside her late
husband.
On Thursday of last Week Mrs,
Elizabeth Harney, of Main street,
stepped out onto the verandah and
had the misfortune to fall, injuring
herself. One of the neighbors not-
iced her and assisted her into the
nonse. She is confined' to her bed in
consequence. The extent of her in-
juries has not been ascertained.

A quiet wedding took Place 10 Tor-
rent° on Good Friday at the home Of
the bride's sister, Mrs. A. R. Cowan,
when Miss Edith A. Rae, daughter
of Mr, James Rae, of London, Eng-
land, was united in marriage to Mr.
Leon V. Treble, son of Mr. and Mrs.
E. Treble, of town, Rev. Mr, Evans
officiated, Mr. Treble and bride vis-
ited for a few days with his parents
in town. His many friends in Ex-
eter will join with The Times in ex-
tending congratulations.
Mr. Clifford McEvoy, left Monday
to spend :a few days in Toronto:

Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Blaney, of Tor-
onto, have moved to Exeter, into the.
residence recently purchased from
the Ramsay estate. Mr. W. H. Kay,
who has been occupying the house

Mrs. McAllister, wife of the pastor,
delivered an address in Main street
church on Sabbath morning last, the
occasion being the anniversary of the
Women's Missionary Society. Her re-
marks were inspiring and instructive.

SEVERE HAIL STORM
This section was visited by a hail
storm about six o'clock on Monday
morning accompanied by a heavy
downpour of rain. It was one of the
heaviest hail storms in years and
for a while it looked as though con-
siderable damage might be done. A
fete small panes of glass were broken
some of the houses. The rain has
delayed seeding operations- for a few
days as the land was just about in
condition for working.

delighted with the lantern views
shown, the first night, by Mr. HartrY
of Seaforth, and the second night by
Prof. Tomlinson of the 0. A. O.,
Guelph. The addresses given were
good, entertaining and instructive,
On Wednesday evening the electiori

S. Harvey, Vice Pres: Miss Jean,

Prof. Tomlinson, in company with a
number of citizens, looked over
the parks of the town and was
much pleased with them, At present
he is preparing a report on the mat-
ter, giving suggestions for future
work. The County Re0esentatave
has also been approached and he is
sending his assistant to make a com-
plete survey of Riverside Park this
Week, Professor Tomlinson thought
the possibilities in this Park were in-
deed fine and offhand he made sev-
eral suggestions that when carried
out will add to its beauty and useful-
ness.
Miss Marion Woods is spending
the holidays with relatives at Oalt-
vine.
