- last week in connection with the fun-

78 years.

The Young People of the Jaynes
street Epworth League put on a play,
"AI1 on Account of Polly," in the'
basement of the church on Tuesday
evening. There was -a good turnout,
the basement being nearly filled. The
play was very' entertaining and a-
musing at ti kept (be audience inex-
cellent li,umor. The cast was well
chosen and all of the performers
took their parts well. The cast' was

When a child she chine with her par
eats to Usborne, where she was uni
ed in marriage to `her bereaved bus
band. About 17 years ago they 'mov
ed to Exeter and since coming to
town the deceased has been a mem-
ber of the James Street Methodist
church. Besides her husband four
daughters and two sons survive Mrs:
James Collingwood, of Hamilton;

G-eo. Colwill, of Cargill; Mrs
W. Wilson, of Petrolea•; Mrs.\Vm.,
1VIotz, of Crecliton; Wm. J of Kip -
pen and Edgar J., of town. Thefuneral,, private, will be held Thurs-
day afternoon, interment in the Eie-
ter cemetery.
The second ice storm: to visit this
section within a fewweeks occurred
on Thursday afternoon'of last week.
The storm came on in the afternoon
and towards the,;.close of the day
the trees and wires were coated with
ice with millions of tiny icicles sus-
pended. Exeter did not suffer as
badly as it did during the last storm.
The hydro power went off Thursday
afternoon: and the citizens again had
to revert to oil lamps and candles:
The stores were without hydro Sat-
urday evening. The lights did not
come on until Sunday evening. The
trouble was not local as the town
ystenl.suffered only a slight dam-
ge- Mr. H. W. Doerr, hydro supt.
n town parolled the main line as far
s London and found that the wires
were all standing to within a short
distance of the city. The telephone.
vires, however, suffered consider-
ble damage, poles being down and.
he wires tangled. The rural lines
were badly bit, Dashwood,: being the
nly connection that can he made.

• tllr. 'William Anderson, a' ireil-
known resident of Stephen township
died on Wednesday of last week at
the home of his brother,; Nilson An-
derson, 2'nd concession, The deceas-
ed had been ill only a few days. His
age was 69 years and 8 months; Mr.
.'inderson was an insurance agent
and was also an agent for the Inter-
national Harvester Company. Ile .
was born and brought up in the 00111-.
nntnity m which he lived. He never E
married and made his home with his
brother, Wilson.. He was a prone-
neat' member of the Centralia Meth-`
odist church, having, taught the
young 'people's ''"Bible classs and at
one time he was superintendent of
the Sunday School. Besides his bro-
ther, Nilson, four sisters survive.
The funeral was held on Friday in-
terment in the Fairfield cemetery.
