Miss Elva Harvey spent a few days
last week visiting with. Miss Amy

her sister, Mrs. L. Grieve at Strath
roy.
The choral -society of Exeter mo-
tored to Hensall Monday evening for
a joint practice in Carmel church.
After a splendid rehearsal a dainty
lunch' was served.
Mr. H'y. Statham of Acton, is visit-
ing his brother, William, for a
couple of weeks. There v.rill likely
be a few less rabbits in this section
before Mr. Statham's return.
The I.O.O.F. will hold an "At
[lone" in the Opera House this Wed-
nesday evening at vehicli there prom-
ises to be a large number of mem-
bers accompanied by their lady
friends. :
The engagement is announced of
Miss Beatrice McCurdy, daughter of
Mr. and. Mrs. James McCurdy, of
Kirkton, to Mr. Lex. T. Barr, of
Motherwell, the marriage to take
place in the near future.
Following the routine business at
the regular nieeting of 'the Masonic
Order on Monday- evening a light
banquet was served. Following the
lunch Mr. W.. R. Elliott was appoint-
ed toastmaster and several impromp-
tu speeches were made.
Mr. Hector Roweliffe was success
ful in carrying off several prizes at
the :Kitchener poultry show with his
chickens. He secured 1st prize for
cock, 1st for heir, i.st for -cockerel,
1st for pullett and 2nd for pullett in
Gane and let cockereli, let hen
and ist pullett inRedCaps.
The new pipe organ for the
Tames St. Methodist Church arrived
this week and is being installed. The
organ weighs about 6 tons. Owing to
the installation, service next Sab-
bath will be held in the basement of
the church. Big preparations are be-
ing made for the opening of the new.
