A sad accident occurred near
�.

Airs. Manning, aged 89 years, lost
her life. With a daughter and grand-
son she was driving in a democrat
when a bolt fell out of the single -
tree, letting it fall at the horses
heels and pausing them to run away.
All the occupants of the democrat
were thrown out and all were more
or less bruised: Mrs. Manning was
found in an unconscious condition,
from which she never rallied. She
died the following day. She was a
former resident of the 7th conces-
sion of McGillivray Township.
FORTY YEARS IN MINISTRY.
Dr. Turnbull of Toronto is visit-
ing his sister, Mrs, John Gilfillan,
"Woodside Perna," I:irkton and his
brother, W. A. Turnbull, Thames
Road. The doctor's health is some-
what improved after two mouths at
Clifton Springs and two months at
the .Lake of Bays. He completed this
month forty years in the ministry
and almost thirty-one years in the
West Presbyterian„ church, Toronto.
So attached are the congregation to
him that when he asked to be re-
lieved they unanimously voted that
under no circumstances would they
consent to the severance of the pas-
toral tie and made him Pastor Ent-
eritis of the congregation for life
with a retiring allowance of $1200
per year. Dr. Turnbull was pastor of
the First Presbyterian Church, St.

Killed. While Hunting.
BARRIE; Ont., Sept. 5.—Fred
Parr Plumber, a well-known business
man of Barrie, who • killed Wednes-
day evening by the „accidental dis-
charge of his own rifle while out
shooting, in Essa, about twenty miles
southwest` of Barrie, with `three oth-
er local men, George Vickers, Fred
Loth and Harold McNabb.•° He was
not over thirty yards from two of
the others when the accident occur-
red, but he being hidden ,by a ridge,
no one witnessed the tragedy.
It is supposed that in making' his
way through the thick undergrowtb
he tripped over a log• and • dis-
cbarged the rifle'. ' The facts were
reported to Dr, Lewis,, coroner, .but
it is not likely •that ,an angriest will
he necessary. •, Deceased leaves a
•
widow, ;but no children.
