A number from Exeter left this
week for Sarnia to take the boat up
the lakes enroute for the West Miss
Flossie Hunter left to visit her bro-
ther, Mr. Warren Hunter, of Alsack,
Sask; Mr, and Mrs. Wm, Kydd, and
Mrs. Robt. Kydd left to visit a.t Lem -
burg, Sask., and Regina, Alta. Miss
Helen Rowcliffe, who has been visit-
ing her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John
Rowcliffe, returned to Youngstown,
Alta.

The two men who were arrested
near
Woodham d din ou Tuesday evening
'of last week by County Constaile
Balkwill ands taken to Goderich
came up for trial on Friday and were
fined $1,000 each. In addition one
of thein was sentenced to seven days
in jail for driving an auto while in-
toxicated. The two men had conte
from Kitchener with two' hundred
quarts of whisky packed in seven,
bags. They drove a. large' Paige . car,
When found they were lying in a
Glitch near Woodham both men in-
toxicated. They were brought to Exe-
ter "and from here were taken to
Goderich the same evening.

A CLOSE GAME.
A rink of bowlers from St. Marys
composed of Hartson, Dunseith,
Nor•thgrave and Tovell, visited Exe-
ted 1aSt Friday evening and niacle a
try for the Victor Challenge Trophy
won at the St, Marys • tournament
last. year. The game was won by the
Exeter rink, 16 to 15. Beaman, Stew-
art, Taman and Seldon defended the.
trophy.
TO INSTAL NEW ORGAN.
The giiar•terly official board' of,
James Street Methodist Church have
decided to instal a new pipe organ
at a; cost, of about. $1.3,000. This ac-„
tion was taken by ,the borrde,at.its
meeting on Monday evening. A com-
mittee has been investigating the
different organs and " in order to
gather information, numerous visits
have been made to neighboring
places. Plans, specifications and esti-
mates were laid before the board on:
Monday night and were approved. A
oanvass has been made of the con-
gregation' and already most of the
money is in sight. The 'work will be
proceeded with at once and it is ex-
peeted the organ will be installed
by December 1st.

The reinains of the late Mrs. Jas.
Westcotti of Winnipeg, notice of
whose death appeared in these col-
umns hist week, were brought to
Exeter on Saturday last and the fu-
neral on Sunday was held from the
home of her son-in-law, Mr. Richard
Coates, of Usborne. itir. Frank Weet-

the retrains: Mrs. VJestcott's maiden
name was Sophia dice, being a
