We gather the gold and store it, <-+
And the whisper is heard, "Suc-
cess,"
But tell ine, ye cold white sleepers,
Is that achievement the best?
We struggle for power and win it,
But lo! like a fleeting breath
It is lest in the realms of silence
Whose ruler and king is Death.
The glory is most in the doing,
And net in the trophyythat is won,
The house that is built in the ,
shadows
May shine in the rays of the sun,
Perhaps in the ultimate judgment
The effort alone will avail;.
Carry on, weary, exhausted pilgrim,
The faint-hearted only will fail.
