Mrs. W. Ready left Tuesday for
London ,after visiting her father,
Rev. J. D. Kestle. Mr. Ready spent
the week -end here. Mr. and Mrs.
Ready are returning to London from
Indiana.
Practically all the business- men
of Lucan have signed to close their
place of business at noon, ` Wednes-
day of eachweek during the months
of May, June, <July and August,
starting on May 4th.
Dr. R. 0. and Mrs. Hodgson,c,of
Saskatoon, Sask., are visiting the
former's mother, 11Irs. Hodgson, and
sister, Mrs. R. Skinner. Dr.' Hodg-
son will leave on :April 22nd for
England to take a post graduate
course.
Miss May Clarke, daughter of Mr.
Wm. Clarke, of TJsborne, had the
misfortune to have her arm broken
one clay last week., She was driving
a horse when it became frightened,
and, striking the animal with aewhip
it kinked, striking Miss Clark on
the arm with the result that it "Was
broken at the 'elboW.'
A serious accident was narrowly
averted on Monday on the 'corner of
Main and Station street when two
antes collided. One car was going
to the station -and the other was
returning. The front fender of one
eel' struck the back fender of the
ocherrunning' •up, over it, The steer-
ing gear of one of the cars was
firoken.

• On Sunday morning Red. -James
Foote of Caven Church preached a
powerful sermon on the temperance
question which was an appeal t the
people to think •; of "the:. other fel-

evening Mr. Foote resumed his series'
of sermons based on the "Pilgrims's
Progress" with the story •of "Vanity
Fair." These addresses shave been
