Automatic arrangements sometime
do not work autome tically. Such was
the case one night last week when
the automatic shut-off at the hydro
pump_ng station failed to work and
the tow tank being filled, overflow-
ed, with the result that the high wind
:bat prevailed at the time carried the
water onto. the residences pf Messrs,
R. G. Seddon and W. Ward, and the
weather being cord, these homes were
,picture next morning -the roofs
being covered with ice and surround-
ed with icicles.

MOTHERS' ALLOWANCES.
The County Mothers' Allowance
Board met last week to adjust claims
under the act. Fifteen were dealt with
but most of them had to be sent back
to the makers as they were imper-
fectly- filled in, etc. Only a widow or
a mother whose husband is perman-
ently incapacitated Or in an asylum
and who has at .least two childrenun-
der 14 years of age,, ;and who wishes
to snake a home for them, should ap-
ply. Have a !capable ,person fill in
documents. We expect to deal with
this matter at further' length in an-
other issue. v
